Step 1: Identify the NTS map sheet

Air photo sets are organized according to the National Topographic System (NTS) map grid. To search for air photos, begin by determining which NTS map sheet(s) cover your area of interest.

Locate your area of interest using our Air Photo Search Tool, either by navigating to that place on the map or using the search bar in the top left corner. The NTS map sheets are outlined in a black grid on the map, and labeled with a number for each sheet.

In the example below, you can see that the town of Hanna, Alberta is located on NTS sheet 72 M 12.
