This guide is designed to assist your research for your international law and treaty research. It does not include conducting legal research in foreign countries or for comparative law. Definitions:

• International law = The legal system governing the relationships between countries; more modernly, the law of international relations, embracing not only countries but also such participants as international organizations and individuals (Black's Law Dictionary 11th ed 2019).
• Foreign law = The law of another state or of a foreign country (Black's Law Dictionary 11th ed 2019).
