What is a Maker Space?

A Maker Space is a flexible, community space, particularly well-suited to libraries, where groups and individuals can gather to hypothesize, explore, and experiment to further and deepen their own learning.

A problem can be presented by a facilitator or introduced by a student for classes or individuals to work towards a solution. The application of curriculum learning and each student's acquired skills determine the quality of each outcome.

An instructional transformation from teacher to facilitator further develops the strength of the learning experience.

Design thinking, problem solving, and collaboration are emphasized.  Formative assessment allows students to be evaluated throughout their learning experience.  Learning is personal and self-motivated.

Many skills are acquired through hands-on learning.
