This guide helps you troubleshooting problems when using the A/V Suites.

Troubleshooting the A/V Suites

The following is a brief walkthrough of how to troubleshoot problems you may run into while using the A/V suites. If the following steps do not fix the problem or if you have any questions, please ask the Digital Media Mentor at the Lab NEXT desk for assistance.

STEP 1:

Make sure that the Volume knob is turned up.

STEP 2:

Double-check that the Audio-Interface is selected as BOTH input and output. Go to System Preferences -> Sound -> Select Focusrite/Scarlett 18i20

STEP 3:

Log off and on again with your username

STEP 4:

The previous steps will guarantee that the sound will be coming out of the monitors and not from the computer speakers BUT this does not include the sound software. For example, if you are watching YouTube the sound will come from the speakers but if you use Logic it doesn't necessarily mean that the sound from Logic will also be coming out.

STEP 5:

To make sure the software's (logic, audition, pro tools) sound is coming out, you have to do the same thing, go into the software's audio or I/O preferences and look for output/input device and select the Scarlett interface.

If the interface is not listed on the devices, close the software and turn the interface off and on, and try again. If the interface is not even listed on the computer’s settings you are going to have to restart the computer.

STEP 1:

Double-check that INPUT 3 is selected in your recording software.

STEP 2:

Make sure that the machine on the left has +48V turned on. If the suite does not have a machine to the left (A/V Suite 340B), make sure that the machine in the middle has "+48V 1-4" button turned on, right next to Input 2.

STEP 3:

Make sure that the Volume knob for INPUT 3 is turned up.

STEP 1:

Select the region that you want to export (In Screenshot it is Logic Pro X)

STEP 2:

Go to ->File -> Bounce Project or Section...

STEP 3:

Select the file format that you want your audio file to be, make sure the length is the same length as your project, and click OK.
