Selected Databases
What is a Database?
A database is a searchable collection of articles, papers, and other academic materials. It helps you find reliable and up-to-date information for your research. In civil engineering, databases provide access to journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports written by experts in the field.
- Compendex This link opens in a new windowCompendex is the most comprehensive bibliographic database of engineering research available today, containing over nine million references and abstracts taken from over 5,000 engineering journals, conferences and technical reports. The broad subject areas of engineering and applied science are comprehensively represented. Online coverage is from 1969 to the present. Approximately 500,000 new records are added to the database annually from over 175 disciplines and major specialties within engineering. The Engineering Index Backfile is also available covering the information from the printed Engineering Index from 1884-1969. This adds about 1.7 million additional records to the database.
- Scopus (Elsevier) This link opens in a new windowScopus, an abstract and citation database, includes peer-reviewed titles from international publishers, Open Access journals, conference proceedings, trade publications, quality web sources.
- Web of science core collection This link opens in a new window
- If API is needed, see APIs for Scholarly Resources: Web of Science API Lite
Web of Science indexes core journal articles, conference proceedings, data sets, and other resources in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. Search the world’s leading scholarly journals, books, and proceedings in the sciences, social sciences, and arts and humanities and navigate the full citation network. All cited references are fully indexed and searchable.
Web of Science Core Collection includes these citation indexes: Science Citation Index Expanded (1900-present), Social Sciences Citation Index (1900-present), Arts & Humanities Citation Index (1975-present), Conference Proceedings Citation Index- Science (1990-present), Conference Proceedings Citation Index- Social Science & Humanities (1990-present), and Emerging Sources Citation Index (2015-present), Book Citation Index - Science (BKCI-S) and Social Sciences & Humanities (BKCI-SSH), Chemical Collection – Current Chemical Reactions (CCR-EXPANDED) and Index Chemicus (IC).
Selected Engineering Physics Databases
- IEEE Xplore Digital Library This link opens in a new windowIEEE Xplore provides web access to more than four-million full-text documents from some of the world's most highly cited publications in electrical engineering, computer science and electronics. More than two-million documents are in robust, dynamic HTML format.
- ScienceDirect This link opens in a new window
- Access to subscribed content only
ScienceDirect is a database of peer-reviewed scholarly literature containing over 3,800 journals and more than 35,000 books. Disciplines covered include physical sciences and engineering, life sciences, health sciences, and social sciences and humanities.
Selected Journals
What is a Selected Journal?
A selected Journal is a trusted, peer-reviewed publication that shares research articles written by experts. These journals focus on specific topics in civil engineering like structures, materials, or transportation. They are great sources for finding current research, case studies, and new developments in the field.
