Finding UCalgary Theses and Dissertations
PRISM-University of Calgary digital repository, contains digital archiving and sharing of articles, books, UCalgary theses, graduate capstones, and other scholarly publications.
Graduate Capstones can be found here: https://prism.ucalgary.ca/handle/1880/108736.
UCalgary theses and dissertations authored by UCalgary students can be found directly in the Vault.
You will find three types of results:
- Legacy Theses: These are UCalgary open access digitized theses, completed prior to June 2012.
- Open Theses and Dissertations: UCalgary electronic theses, completed post June 2012. Most are open access, some may have a temporary embargo, but are requestable.
- Restricted Theses and Dissertations: Closed access theses. Content is digitized for preservation, but not available for digital lending. These are only available for hard copy consultation in Glenbow Western Research Centre due to permission restrictions.
Some titles may be embargoed or restricted access, for a variety of reasons. Some of these embargoed titles may be available for digital request. Check this FAQ on how to get access to embargoed materials in PRISM or the Vault.

Libraries and Cultural Resources also holds bound paper and microfiche copies of some theses created prior to September 2012. The Library search contains details of available titles and formats and will indicate whether the available items can circulate.
Some paper theses are stored offsite; please request the title(s) you wish to view at least two business days before you require access.
