Market Information
Market Information
While industry research and market research are often used interchangeably, there are slight differences. While industry often discusses the activity of companies operating in an area, market research refers to the customers - geography, demographics, psychographics.
Tips for doing market research:
- Primary and secondary market research are different. Reports found in the library are secondary, while data collection you do yourself (interviews, focus groups, etc.) are primary.
- Many market research reports you find online are considered predatory and are often not well-written or researched. Like industry information, you may need to broaden quite a bit when looking for information.
- Before searching, determine your geography and target customer. Advanced Google can help you find relevant demographics.
