Journal Hosting Service
How To: Login to a Journal
To login to a journal hosted through the University of Calgary, users should use their account username and password.
Please note, your account email address is not a recognised login credential, only your account's username. If you do not know your username, please connect with the journal to request that information.
Author Submissions: Accepted File Formats
All journals hosted through the University of Calgary run on Open Journal System (OJS) software, provided by the Public Knowledge Project (PKP).
To improve security protection within the OJS platform, we have implemented plugins to dictate a broad range of acceptable file formats for uploading within each journal related to article submissions, the editorial workflow, journal information settings, and user profile settings.
The accepted file formats are:
-

Changes for Journal Managers Adding New Users to a Journal
The latest OJS software has been updated and now limits access to add new users to a journal through the Users & Roles Settings dashboard due to data privacy protection changes in Europe.
Journal Managers may encounter limits on making changes to user accounts who are not already registered with their journal. They will receive the following error message indicating a lack of sufficient permissions:
It is now recommended that all new users to a journal within the journalhosting.ucalgary.ca system register for each journal individually themselves, either through the journal’s registration page or by updating their role with the relevant journal in their account profile (under the “Roles” tab). Once a user registers with a journal, Journal Managers will be able to update the assigned roles of that user.
For example, Journal Managers have experienced this barrier when adjusting user accounts for members joining their editorial team. For these updated changes, Journal Managers should direct new editorial members to register for an account with the journal (if they are not already a member), following which the Journal Manager will be able to increase access to the system by adjusting the user’s assigned roles within the Users & Roles dashboard settings.
