Indigenous Literatures in Canada
Special Collections acquires literary works created by Indigenous authors and creators living and working in the territories known as Canada. While we have collected the work of many Indigenous authors since the inception of Special Collections in the 1970s, we have begun to more formally and systematically collect the work of Indigenous authors as an area of focus and growth. We acquire works of fiction, creative non-fiction, memoir and autobiography, drama, and poetry, as well as comics and graphic novels.
