LibGuide Ownership - Editor Levels

Owners

  • The person who creates the guide is the primary owner.
  • A guide can have multiple co-owners but only one owner.
  • Guide ownership allows one to be able to change the publication status of or to delete a guide.
  • Ownership can be transferred by system admins.
  • Owners can add others to a guide in all of the roles below.

Co-Owners

  • Co-Owners can create and edit content and their user profile and name will appear along with the guide owner on the guide pages, home page, search pages, etc.
  • Profile boxes for owners and co-owners display by default; they can be toggled off but that will turn off all owner profile boxes.
  • To display only certain owners, toggle the profile boxes off and then add selected profiles back in by choosing the the function to Add a box > System Boxes > User Profile.
  • After the box is created, you can choose the profile(s) to display in the box.

Editors

  • Editors can add and remove content, but cannot delete a guide nor can they add owners or other editors.
  • Profile boxes for editors will not show on the guide unless you use the function to Add a box > System Boxes > User Profile.
  • After the box is created, you can choose the profile(s) to display in the box.

Collaborators

  • Collaborators are content contributors who do not have an account on our LibGuides system.
  • They can add and edit content.
  • This is a useful role to assign to instructors who are working with you on a project.
  • Collaborators do not have automatic profile boxes, but you can create a simulated profile box for them by using a Rich Text Box format.
