Cover Letters

Your Cover Letter is one of the most important pieces when you are applying for a job. It introduces yourself to the employer and acts as your first impression. Be sure it's a good one!

 

Cover Letter Reviews

Drop-in

Stop by the Centre for Career and Personal Development (MSC 188) during drop-in advising hours for guidance on a quick question or some one-on-one help. Students can also connect with a Career Development Specialist virtually for drop-in advising. Drop-in appointments are typically 15 minutes in length. If a longer appointment is required, please book through Elevate. 

In-person and virtual drop-in (via Zoom)

    • Fall 2023:
    • Tuesdays: 12-1:30 p.m. MT (in person - MSC 188)
    • Thursdays: 12-1:30 p.m. MT (virtual - join here via Zoom

Resume rescue drop-in:

  • Wednesdays | 121:00 p.m. MT (in-person at MSC 188) 

Quick Tips

Use the same font as your resume.
If the address is not provided, find the employer’s address online.
If you do not have a contact name, you can address the letter to Human Resources, the Hiring Manager or leave it blank.
Unless otherwise directed, the Cover Letter should be a maximum of one page in length.
Always have someone else proof read your Cover Letter.
