Developing a Library Research Platform for 21st Century Scholars

The direct intersection between university libraries and academic research has significantly diminished in the past two decades. For continued relevance on campus academic libraries need to develop a new approach to working within the research endeavour.

Academic Research and University Libraries: Creating a New Model for Collaboration

The central aim of this two year project is to actively engage scholars in multidisciplinary research. Through participation in this collaborative process, the library will delineate scholarly needs, build new relationships, and augment necessary expertise.

This project, beginning in the Spring of 2017 features two rounds of competitive, internal grants (subgrants) supporting University of Calgary research conducted in partnership with the library. This creative approach aims to stimulate research while informing the development of a research platform, thereby increasing institutional capacity and actively engaging library staff in the process.

The effort will conclude in the Fall of 2019.
