The Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals (CAIRP) is the national professional organization representing more than 980 members working in the insolvency system, as well as over 500 articling, life and corporate associates. Almost ninety percent of Licensed Insolvency Trustees, licensed under Canada's Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act are members of CAIRP. CAIRP was created as a non-profit corporation in 1979 to advocate a fair, transparent and effective system of insolvency/restructuring administration throughout Canada.

The federal government provides those with an Industry Canada login and password access to a paid search of Bankruptcy and Insolvency Records.
The Bankruptcy and Insolvency Records Search database contains:
-basic debtor information of all bankruptcies and proposals registered in Canada since 1978
-all receiverships registered with our office since January 1993
-all petitions recorded at our office; and
-all companies that have been granted protection under the Companies´ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) since September 18, 2009.

The CBA Insolvency Law Section advocates for bankruptcy law reform and offers timely legal education and professional development in this important area of law.

The Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy (OSB) is responsible for supervising all estates and matters to which the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) applies, as well as certain matters under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA). The OSB licenses and regulates the insolvency profession; supervises the administration of estates in bankruptcy, commercial reorganizations, consumer proposals and receiverships; maintains a public record of BIA and CCAA filings; records and investigates complaints from debtors and creditors regarding the insolvency process; and ensures compliance through maintenance and enforcement of the regulatory framework
