Add GPS Data
GPS data from Garmin devices in GPX format can be converted to an ArcGIS feature class or shapefile using the GPX To Features (Conversion) tool.
- Open ArcCatalog.
- Run GPX To Features (Conversion) Tool:
- Input GPX File: LarchValley.gpx
- Output Feature Class: LarchValley.shp
- Open ArcMap.
- Add Data: LarchValley.shp and Add Basemap: Topographic

Add XY Coordinate Data
- Open ArcMap.
- Add tabular data (CityofCalgary_OpenData_TrafficIncidents_Archive2017.csv)
- Right click the tabular layer > Display XY Data:
- Identify the columns that hold the x (longitude) and y (latitude) coordinates.
- Specify the coordinate system (GCS_WGS_1984).
- Right click the Events layer > Export Data and specify output.
- When prompt add layer to display.
- Right click on Layers > Properties > Coordinate System > Add Coordinate System > Import
- Navigate to and select Calgary_3TM_WGS_1984_W114.prj
