Sewing and Embroidery
Sewing and embroidery are both textile arts that involve stitching fabric, but they serve different purposes.
Sewing is the process of joining pieces of fabric using thread and a needle, either by hand or with a sewing machine, to create or repair clothing and other fabric-based items.
Embroidery, on the other hand, is a decorative technique that involves stitching intricate patterns, designs, or lettering onto fabric using various thread colors and stitch styles.
At LabNext we have two machines, one for Embroidery and the other for Sewing.
- The Embroidery machine is a Brother PE-770.
- For Sewing we have a Brother JX1714 machine.
To learn more about each machine, please follow these links:
Rules and Etiquette
- Please make sure to clean up after using the sewing or embroidery machines.
- Remember to remove the bobbin and thread spools from the machine, and to put them away on the wooden stand behind them.
- Remember to return the USB to Staff after finishing using the Embroidery Machine.
- We don't want anyone to be poked by a pin, so please use the Pin Cushion.
- We have fabric scissors and paper scissors, so please be aware to put each one where they belong. Paper scissors in the Cricut cabinet and Fabric scissors in the Sewing and Embroidery cabinet.
