Borrowing Services

Libraries and Cultural Resources has information for UCalgary students, staff, and faculty about borrowing materials from the library, as well as particular supports for distance education student. Access the appropriate information using the links below.

Accessing Physical Library Materials

On-Campus

If you are on-campus, you can access physical library materials from the main shelves or place materials on hold through the library catalog and pick-up at the Hold shelves at Doucette or LCR's other library locations.

• Please note all materials, including those on the hold shelves, need to be checked out using the self-checkout machine or through the reserve kiosk's system.

Distance Off-Campus

Werklund Distance Students (Community-Based BEd and Graduate Students) may use the Interlibrary Loan Request Form to request physical library materials (books, articles, kits, posters, etc.) available through Libraries and Cultural Resources or other libraries. Items requested through this form will be sent to you at no cost, and include a paid postage label to return material to us.

Steps for placing an interlibrary loan request:

1. Locate physical materials owned by LCR or at another library
   • TIP: Keep the library catalog record open, you'll use the information to complete your request.
    
2. Access the Interlibrary Loan Service page and sign in to access the request form.
 
3.  Using the information about the requested item, enter as much information as you can provide. 
   • Note: if you are ordering a kit, realia, or other non-article item, use "book".
    
4. Ensure you indicate you are a distance students (check the box!).
 
5. When available, materials will be mailed to you with pre-paid postage.
