About the Canadian Art Files
There are two sequences to the Canadian Art Files:
Canadian Artists Files
The collection, started in 1974, has a wide scope, encompassing artists who have worked in Canada in all visual arts media. It consists of files on ~14,600 artists, architects, designers, and art critics, including some corporate bodies. The files contain items such as gallery announcements, small exhibition catalogues, CVs, artist statements, clippings, and other ephemera. Updated regularly. Amount of material for each artist varies greatly.
Canadian Gallery Files
The gallery must reside in Canada although they may exhibit non-Canadian work. The files may contain gallery announcements and publications, small exhibition catalogues, clippings, and other ephemera. Updated regularly. Amount of material for each gallery varies greatly.
NOTE: This collection is now closed. We no longer accept material from Canadian artists and galleries for inclusion in our files.
