Language and Culture

The BA in Language and Culture will provide students with a solid training in focused language, literary, and cultural studies in one or two language areas (Arabic Language and Muslim Cultures, German, Italian, Russian), and complements these studies with core coursework in cross-linguistic, cross-cultural, and comparative studies.

Key Skills & Knowledge

Multilingual Communication: Gain fluency in at least one additional language, with strong command over grammar, vocabulary, and expression in both spoken and written communication.

Cultural Fluency: Develop a deep understanding of global cultures and values; build the ability to engage respectfully and effectively across cultural boundaries.

Critical Thinking & Inquiry: Strengthen your ability to research, interpret, and evaluate complex texts and cultural materials with clarity and depth.

Interdisciplinary Insight: Connect themes across literature, history, language, and society; explore patterns that reveal broader global narratives and human experiences.

Cross-Cultural Messaging: Sharpen your communication across diverse audiences; master the art of sharing ideas with impact in multiple formats and cultural contexts.
